“Collect moments, not things.”
This is something that we must all remind ourselves from time to time. Things bring us limited pleasure. When we sit back and reminisce, it is our happy memories that bring us unparalleled joy. And I can think of no better way to collect moments than to travel.

From time immemorial humans have been travelling. In prehistoric times they travelled for hunting and gathering resources. Many ancient civilizations, such as Egyptians and Greeks, were known for their trade networks. The advent of the steam engine saw the development of the first modern form of tourism, with people traveling to exotic locations for the purpose of leisure and cultural enrichment.
In the 21st century, travel has become increasingly accessible and affordable, with people travelling for leisure, business, education, cultural exchange, and so on.

With everything at our fingertips today, the question arises why do we even need a travel agency – boutique or otherwise.
Well, technically you don’t need one. But practically speaking, do you really want to get into the hassle of doing all the research, checking reviews, dealing with the multiple portals, and so much more!
A travel company is your go-to expert for planning the perfect seamless trip. Their experts can handle everything from visas, flights, hotels, to itinerary planning, scheduling, and transportation.
But which type of travel agency should you choose? A small boutique agency or a large travel company? I, personally, always prefer a boutique agency. But that is just me.
So, for today, let us look at the pros and cons of small travel agencies.
Pros of a Boutique Travel Agency:
1. Personalized service:
For a boutique agency you are not one among a horde of many. You are and will be treated as a special guest of the company. This kind of personalized service is a welcome change in today’s fast-paced lifestyle.
2. Unique experiences:
Small agencies have the time to do extensive research and provide you access to exclusive, off-the-beaten-path destinations and activities.
3. Flexibility:
Everyone has a different way of travelling. Some love to wake up at leisure, meander over breakfast, and then head out to explore a new place. Whereas, there are others who love to pack-in as much as they can in one day. A boutique agency will take into account each and every requirement (quirk) and try to tailor your holiday specifically to fit you.
4. High-end service:
Like point 1, since a small agency will never have a huge number of clients, the service that you will get will obviously be of a very high quality.
5. Relationship building:
Boutique agencies thrive on building relations. Whether it is with their clients or their back-end vendors. This is a huge plus point.

Cons of a Boutique Travel Agency:
1. Limited scope:
Unlike big players in the travel industry, a small agency may not be in a position to offer a wide range of destinations or travel options.
2. Higher costs:
Personalized and high-end services can increase prices. As we all know, if I want an exclusive service I will need to pay more.
3. Marketing challenges:
Smaller agencies may find it difficult to compete with larger companies' marketing efforts. That obviously is not something that needs to worry a client, but it could make it harder to know about one.
4. Limited resources:
A boutique agency may not have access to the same resources or technology as larger agencies. This can sometimes hinder the quality of the services provided or even the pricing of a tour.
5. Quality control:
Boutique agencies may struggle with this. Dependence on individual vendor’s expertise may sometimes lead to inconsistent quality of services provided.
I hope these pros and cons help you determine if a boutique travel agency is the right fit for your travel needs. Either way, don’t stop exploring!
