Walking along Japan’s iconic spots like Tokyo’s Ueno Park, Kyoto’s Maruyama Park, participate in hanami picnics (flower viewing picnics) where you can connect with locals and fellow travellers, sharing your cultural backgrounds and mutual love for cherry blossoms and the Japanese cultural heritage. According to the website Timeout.com, the Japan Meteorological Corporation has estimated that the cherry blossoms in Tokyo are predicted to start flowering on March 24 and will potentially have reached full bloom by April 1 2025. A week after Tokyo’s cherry blossoms are predicted to start flowering, Kyoto and Osaka are expected to be packed with picturesque views of the same.

Kyoto, Tokyo and Osaka are some of the most highly recommended cities to visit during this time. All these regions lie in the southern and southeastern parts of Japan. Some more places where one can walk amidst pretty views of the Sakura bloom are Osaka, where the Osaka Castle Park Cherry Blossom Festival takes place; the Himeji Castle, a UNESCO listed castle with over a 1000 trees around it.

The Ueno Park in Tokyo is a popular Japanese city park, famous for its magnificent cherry blossoms and hanami with the park having attracted over 10 million visitors per year. It is considered one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom spots. When the bloom is at its peak during the season, over 300,000 visitors visit the park daily, travelling from faraway lengths and breadths of the country.

Towards the North, Sapporo, which is the capital of the Japanese island of Hokkaido, is the last to witness the full bloom of the cherry blossoms from approximately May 2. There’s another Maruyama Park here, like the one with the same name in Kyoto. The park has over 1500 sakura trees here. Enough to keep you blooming with love for the rest of your life.
