1 - Pre-Travel preparation:

Most of you must have already taken care of some of these tasks but a refresher never hurt anyone. Considering all your university applications have been completed:

  •  Make sure to book your visa appointment as soon as possible.

  • Once your visa has been approved, it is now time to book your flight tickets and accommodation.

  • Do contact your accommodation correspondent for enquiries regarding your stay.

  • Make sure to note the baggage allowance and weight limit in advance.

  • Keep in mind all internal travel options after reaching the destination.

  • Don’t forget to web check-in through your airline website beforehand.

2 - In Transit preparation:

  1. While in transit, make sure you handle all your important documents ,such as passport, visa, luggage and other belongings like bags, wallets and electronic devices carefully, so as not to misplace or lose them.

  2. Be alert and listen to announcements at the airport carefully.

  3. While you are in-flight, make sure to keep your mobile phones on flight mode.

  4. Make sure to carry warm clothing in case you need it. Do not carry sharp objects in your cabin bag.

  3. Be mindful of strangers around you.

  4. Make sure to collect your residence permit once you settle into your place of stay.

  5. Register to open a bank account to handle your expenses.

All said and done, travelling abroad to pursue higher studies is a bold step in your life. So make sure to explore, connect and imbibe the cultural, geographical and social values of whichever destination you plan to study in.
